Koru Kayaking

Take a 2-hour kayak adventure with Tom and Hetty on the peaceful inlet of Frenchman’s Creek, the inspiration of Daphne du Maurier’s novel. Koru Kayaking supplies guided tours of groups from 2-8 people on the north coast and the Helford River with friendly instructors.

Run by Cornish Mining ambassadors and supporters of Cornwall Wildlife Trust Tom and Hetty Wildblood, Koru Kayaking offers 2-hour stunning guided kayak adventures on tandem sit-on-top kayaks. These launch from two Cornish locations: Trevaunance Cove in St Agnes and Budock Vean Hotel’s foreshore on the Helford River, enabling you to see two very different sides of Cornwall within half an hour of each other!

All equipment is provided including kayaks, paddles, water bottles and buoyancy aids, with wetsuits also available for hire. Your guide will take photos of you on your kayak adventure,  which can be purchased before or after the kayak adventure.

Koru’s North Coast Kayak Adventure in St Agnes guides you along the UNESCO World Heritage Site through cave archways carved out during the Cornish Mining area. This stretch of coastline is believed to be the inspiration for Winston Graham’s Poldark, which was written at the next bay.

Koru’s Frenchman’s Creek Kayak Adventure is along the Helford River and follows banks populated with ancient oak forest, creeks filled with Royal Duchy oyster farms which started back in 1506 with the Vyvyan family, and the shipwreck on Frenchman’s Creek. This magical location was the inspiration behind Daphne Du Maurier’s famous novel Frenchman’s Creek.

Both experiences will also offer the opportunity to spot an abundance of wildlife including herons, egrets, kingfishers, dolphins, sunfish, cormorants, seals and even basking sharks.

There is no experience necessary for these sea adventures and full briefings are given before all kayak trips. Dynamic duo Hetty and Tom are tip-top experts at kayaking and will be able to put you at ease and teach you to paddle with near-enough perfection. Not only this but their involvement with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Cornwall Seal Group and local wildlife groups mean that their knowledge will bring the coastline to life with their in-the-know commentary.

The beautiful thing about kayaking is that no two adventures are ever the same and that’s what keeps you coming back for more. If you are seeking an escape away from the bustling crowds and are looking for an experience that gives you a whole new perspective of Cornwall, Koru Kayaking is the activity for you.
