Dear Guests

Please be assured that we are monitoring the Corona Virus (COVID-19) situation (at least) daily, with Public Health England, the UK government advisory body. Your health and that of our housekeepers and property owners is of the utmost importance to us.

Like you we are conscious of our personal responsibilities in preventing the further transmission of this disease.

You will have heard it a hundred times now, however to keep the mantra going:

  • Keep your hands away from your mouth, nose and eyes.
  • Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds a time, (sing Happy Birthday twice), using hot water and soap.
  • For guidance on the most effective hand washing technique please see here.

If you start to display any symptoms such as:

  • a cough
  • a high temperature
  • shortness of breath

Or if you’ve been in close contact with someone who has suspected/reported COVID-19 follow the following guidance:

  • stay at home and avoid close contact with other people
  • do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital
  • use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next

The 111 coronavirus service will tell you if you need to continue to stay at home (self-isolate), or if you need medical help.

Your Holiday with Cornish Holiday Cottages

The COVID-19 outbreak is a fluid situation that we are monitoring daily. We have made contingency plans so that our team will remain operational, even if we are all requested to social distance or self-isolate.

As I am sure you can appreciate we are receiving a lot of calls from concerned customers. Please read the below Frequently Asked Questions. If your specific concern is not covered please do still feel free to get in touch.

Am I covered if I have a travel (cancellation) insurance policy?

If you have an upcoming holiday booked with us and you have purchased travel insurance before the outbreak please check your policy has you covered, to give you peace of mind.

Can I still purchase travel insurance that will cover me in the event of me being unwell/unable to travel?

Yes. As of 12.03.20 Money Saving Expert details several insurance companies that are still offering cover.

What happens if I am unable to arrange travel insurance?

If you paid by credit card it is worth checking with your card handler as you may have cover with them. If you do not have any insurance to fall back on then please talk to us. We are so far dealing with your concerns on a case by case basis. The circumstances are extenuating and the situation is changing fairly rapidly.

What happens if there is a lockdown situation?

If your home town, or our area, go into lockdown then we will be in touch and in that instance will do our best to negotiate with our owners to offer you an alternative holiday date, should you not have holiday cancellation insurance.

I want to cancel now, what happens next?

If you are feeling ‘disinclined’ to travel at this stage then please let us know and we will cancel your booking and endeavour to re-let the property for you. If we are successful in securing another booking then your monies will be refunded in full. Until such time as we re-let you will be responsible for the whole rental payment. In light of the circumstances we will waiver our cancellation fee, (£30.00 per booking).

How are Cornish Holiday Cottages’ preparing for my arrival?

Please be assured our housekeepers will be carrying out extra vigilant and thorough hospitality cleans before your arrival. All surfaces will be disinfected and special attention will be given to areas where people are likely to put their hands.

Will the Cornish Holiday Cottages team be available to talk to, during any potential lock down?

Yes, we are all set up and ready to work from our homes. Mel, our office manager, lives virtually next door to our office, so we are even operational in the physical sense. Virtually all of our systems are cloud based, so we can still provide you with a full service.

Once the spread of Coronavirus starts to dissipate, what do Cornish Holiday Cottages foresee happening?

We anticipate a huge surge in last minute and summer bookings in the UK. We are here now and ready to welcome your enquiries and bookings. To ensure you get your chosen holiday home, please do book now and ensure you have the relevant travel insurance in place that will cover you should you be unable to travel.
