We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation daily, with Public Health England. The government advised against all ‘non-essential’ travel on Monday 16th March. What this means exactly is different to each of us.

Our thoughts are with the over 70’s and those with pre-existing health issues in our community, who are self-isolating. Our thoughts are with the health care professionals and teachers working all hours to keep us well and our children occupied.  

For those of you that are not well, or have taken the difficult decision to stay at home, know that our thoughts are with you.

If you feel the need to cancel your holiday


Please notify us by email. Please can we ask that you then refer to your travel insurance company. We understand it is a bit of hassle to go online and make a claim, however we are a small business, managing many other micro businesses (holiday homes) and our livelihoods are at stake here.

We are here to assist you and all our other customers, who are navigating through unchartered waters. We are so sorry you are going to be missing out on your upcoming holiday.

If you do have travel insurance, it was purchased to cover such eventualities as this virus pandemic and if you can claim, we would be so grateful. It will help to keep the economy rolling and it means you receive a refund and are then free to choose a holiday time, when things have calmed down and we all have a clearer picture of when it will be best to move around freely again.

We will in the first instance try to re-let the period you had booked. If we are able to re-let we will refund your monies in full. We will not charge a cancellation fee in this circumstance. If we are unable to re-let your holiday we will provide you with the relevant documentation to fulfil your insurance claim, within a week of your previously planned departure date.

What happens if I do not have travel insurance?

If you paid by credit card it is worth checking with your card handler as you may have cover with them. If you do not have any insurance to fall back on then please email us. We are so far dealing with your concerns on a case by case basis, as we are required to consult the individual property owners.

What happens if there is a lockdown situation?

If your home town, or our area, go into lockdown then we will be in touch and in that instance will do our best to negotiate with the holiday home owner to offer you an alternative holiday date, or at the very least refund/absolve you the 70% balance payment, should you not have holiday cancellation insurance.  

I want to cancel now, what happens next?

If you are feeling ‘disinclined’ to travel at this stage then please let us know and we will cancel your booking and endeavour to re-let the property for you. If we are successful in securing another booking then your monies will be refunded in full. Until such time as we re-let you will be responsible for the whole rental payment. In light of the circumstances we will waiver our cancellation fee, (£30.00 per booking).

How are Cornish Holiday Cottages’ preparing for my arrival?

Please be assured our housekeepers are carrying out extra vigilant and thorough hospitality cleans before your arrival. All surfaces will be disinfected and special attention will be given to areas where people are might put their hands.

Will the Cornish Holiday Cottages team be available to talk to, during any potential lock down?

Yes, we are all set up and ready to work from our homes. Mel, our office manager, lives virtually next door to our office, so we are even operational in the physical sense. Virtually all of our systems are cloud based, so we can still provide you with a full service.

Once the spread of Coronavirus starts to dissipate, what do Cornish Holiday Cottages foresee happening?

We anticipate a huge surge in last minute and summer bookings in the UK. We are here now and ready to welcome your enquiries and bookings. To ensure you get your chosen holiday home, please do book now and ensure you have the relevant travel insurance in place that will cover you should you be unable to travel.
