Port Navas Yacht Club - your local, quirky gem on the edge of Port Navas creek. For opening times and menu please visit www.pnyc.co.uk. Please book ahead with your hosts Nigel/Mike 01326 340065 as the venue is somewhat bijou! Dogs and children welcome. For boat moorings/berts - Tom 01326 340525

Hire a kayak or a small boat for the day and really get to know the nooks and crannies of the Helford estuary. Pack a picnic and head to Durgan or Grebe beach for a swim and stay there until the light fades.

The Ferry Boat Inn is a fantastic, waterside Gastropub, on Helford Passage Beach. The pub is dog friendly all year round, however from Easter to end of September your four legged family member is not permitted on the beach itself,  otherwise all the coves on the Helford are fine for you all to enjoy, whatever the date.

From the floating pontoon here you can hop across on the small passenger ferry, to the south bank of the Helford River and to Helford Village, an idyllic place stepped back in time and with another great public house, The Shipwrights Inn.

Also close to Chestnut Cottage is The Potager Garden cafe, which is really so much more than that, with it's lovely kitchen gardens, huge greenhouse, delectable vegetarian food and cakes, hammocks, garden games, artist's studios and chilled out vibes.

From Port Navas you are naturally going to want to explore the Lizard Peninsula and the amazing coastline of the UK's most southerly point. Kynance, Poldhu and Church Cove, are three well known beaches - all set to take your breath away.

For day to day shopping nip to Constantine village, just two miles away and stock up on some Vicky's Organic bread and local produce, plus if you like a tipple you must visit Constantine Stores and its incredible selection of wines and whiskies from across the globe.

Whether you want to walk, swim, eat, explore or just relax Chestnut Cottage is a beautiful holiday home from which you can base yourself and kick back of an evening.
