Chy-an-Dour

This stunning cottage is set in the beautiful village of Durgan, a small unspoilt fishing village set on the north bank of the Helford River, largely owned by the National Trust. It is a yachtsman's paradise, completely unspoilt with sheltered waters and with a network of National Trust walks along the shore.

The cottage was originally comprised of two traditional fishermen's cottages which were combined to form the unusually spacious cottage as it stands today. It has recently been completely refurbished, with original Cornish scantle laid roof, open beams, new ceilings, floors, kitchen and slate tiled wet room. It has been finished to a very high standard, with granite work tops, under floor heating in the kitchen, a large wood burning stove in the double aspect lounge and new oil fired central heating. The romantic master bedroom benefits from a picturesque river view, vaulted ceiling and a double ended slipper bath. Outside there is a small seating area to the front of the property and a private garden set in a walled garden to the rear, with a table and chairs for four people. (NB Access to the rear garden is gained via joint access with Glebe cottage. The pathway is old stone and is uneven. It may not be suitable for the elderly, infirm or small children.)

You are welcome to bring a well behaved dog providing they are not allowed upstairs, on the furniture or in the property straight off the beach.

“Such a brilliant location and cottage. It was so nice sitting with a coffee on the rocks every morning. The only problem we have every time… is leaving!”

The Brown Family, Surrey, August 2017
