Summary

Facing South on the edge of Port Navas Creek, Lower Deck nestles alongside the tideline of the Helford River. Few other places in Cornwall offer such unique positioning as this artfully designed ground-floor apartment in Port Navas. With direct water access and an ever-changing view as the water ebbs and flows in and out of the creek.

A haven for water-lovers, a stay at Lower Deck puts you right in the thick of all things afloat. Expeditions via kayak can take place mere moments from the front door, and children can spend hours crabbing from the quayside.

As swans mosey on past the windows and egrets pace the shoreline, unload the catch of the day and fire up the BBQ. A large outside seating area adjacent to the slipway and the kitchen makes for alfresco dining on balmy evenings, with only the lapping of the turning tide and brilliant conversation to distract from the peace.

Freshly renovated to an exacting standard, Lower Deck offers luxury. Larger parties or families travelling together may wish to also book out Upper Deck and spread out across the two apartments. Together the properties sleep up to 12 people in six bedrooms.

Port Navas is situated at the head of one of the most delightful tidal creeks on the Helford River and is approximately 7 miles from Falmouth, 6 miles from Helston and 16 miles from Truro. Constantine and Mawnan Smith, with their own stunning countryside, have a variety of shops. Lower Deck is a good centre from which to visit the many sandy coves and fishing villages of the Lizard Peninsula. The north coast is within an hours drive and several secluded beaches are just a short drive away.

Passenger ferries are available from Helford Passage to Helford and from Falmouth Prince of Wales Pier to the upper River Fal, St. Mawes, Truro and Helford River.

The beautiful subtropical gardens of Treba’ and National Trust Glendurgan are nearby.

The area is a yachtsman’s paradise, excellent for sailing, motor boating or rowing and is a perfect base for those wishing to explore the Helford River and its upper reaches, including Frenchman’s Creek, immortalised by the late Daphne Du Maurier. Slipway facilities are available for launching boats and moorings may be arranged. Both motor and sailing boats may be hired locally with sailing tuition available. The Helford River has a lively scene with local regattas taking place throughout the summer.

Port Navas Yacht Club is your local, quirky gem on the edge of Port Navas creek. Please book ahead with your hosts Nigel/Mike 01326 340065 as the venue is popular and compact. Dogs and children welcome. For boat moorings/berths – Tom 01326 340525

I love it and will book again. They do need to stay on top of maintenance, some bits of mold in the bathrooms and and it would be nice if the patio was better kept. Outside I noticed the gutters were full, it obviously didn’t impact my stay but I want the property to be well looked after as I want to visit it for many years to come.
