Supremely characterful and full to the brim with that traditional Cornish cottage charm, the open-plan living and kitchen area leads you out to the courtyard garden shared with two other cottages (which are also available to rent) to enjoy shared moments. The woodburner sets the atmosphere for evenings nestled beside the fire, unwinding after days spent out playing in nature.
Anyone who has spent time on the Helford will tell you of its magic. Adventurous families might take to the water for thrilling boat trips or kayaking expeditions, readers will enjoy finding sunny spots to settle down on one of the many beaches that line the shores, while ramblers will embrace the footpaths that weave from sea to woodland and back again in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The tiny hamlet of Durgan sits on the banks of the Helford River on the South Coast of Cornwall, nestled between trees and a sandy beach. Surrounded by acres of National Trust land, this idyllic and unrivalled location is as if plucked straight from a fairytale.
A short and beautiful walk along the coast path will lead you through to Helford Passage. Here you’ll find boats for hire, a sandy beach, and the superb Ferryboat Inn serving delicious pub food and drink right beside the water. Sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and watch the kids play on the beach beside you for the perfect compromise!
Glendurgan Garden sits just behind the cottage. This subtropical garden is owned by the National Trust, and here little ones can run through the laurel maze or learn about all the rare plants and wildlife that thrive in the garden. When you’re done exploring, relax and enjoy an ice-cream on the beach from the fish cellar in Durgan, a small booth just opposite the cottage run by the National Trust in summer.
A short forty-five minute drive will take you to Cornwall’s rugged North Coast, famous for surfing beaches and dramatic scenery. St Ives is also just a forty-five minute drive away, and you’ll be able to get to most places of interest in Cornwall in just under an hour. The Lizard is a twenty-five minute drive. Falmouth, the closest town to Durgan, is a treasure trove of food and culture. From the festivals that take place almost every other week in the summer to the shops, cafés and waterside pubs, it’s a treat of a town and the perfect change of pace from Durgan.

No Smoking. If you are a smoker please be considerate of others and keep away from open windows, other guests and of course responsibly dispose of your cigarette ends. Smoking is not permitted inside the cottages.

£200 security deposit – only chargeable for damages (which will be discussed with you in advance of processing the charge).
Pets
One behaved dog welcome @ £35 each with the expressed permission of the owner. No dogs under 1 year of age

Please bring your own towels.
Parking
For one car in open-fronted dinghy shed. Not suitable for an SUV or tall vehicle. Vehicles of this size must park in the National Trust car park at the top of the village.
Small children
The cottage is not suitable for small children due to the low window recesses on the first floor and the wide opening windows. We advise no children under 5. Please make children of all ages aware of the situation on arrival.
Boats and Dinghies
Guests wishing to bring a dinghy or boat must notify the office in advance as there is space for one boat/kayak per cottage on the boat park, close to the property alongside the boat shed. There is one deepwater mooring available at the west end of Durgan bay to accommodate boats up to 45′ long which is available to the guests of Rose Cottages. If you would like to keep your sailing dinghy (Laser, Wayfarer etc) on the mooring, there is a charge of £30 per week, whilst for boats above 20′ the charge is £60. The owners also have a small rowing boat, which is available at £50 per week. The dinghy and mooring must be reserved and paid for with your deposit at the time of booking to ensure availability. Please note that there is one rowing boat available to any Rose Cottage guests, and this will be first come first serve.
