The popular Ferry Boat Inn at Helford Passage is just over two miles by land, or a third of that by water. Should you wish to enjoy the Helford River in this manner, then it may be possible to hire a boat locally (Helford River Boats or Sailaway St.Anthony) and keep it at the Port Navas Yacht Club which is on the other side of the creek.

Port Navas Yacht Club - your local, quirky gem on the edge of Port Navas creek. For opening times and menu please visit www.pnyc.co.uk. Please book ahead with your hosts Nigel/Mike 01326 340065 as the venue is somewhat bijou! Dogs and children welcome. For boat moorings/berts - Tom 01326 340525

Another popular public house is The Trengilly Wartha Inn, which is just under a two mile walk via the head of Polwheveral Creek.

Constantine, 2 miles, is a well stocked village for daily supplies and also hosts a brilliant liquor/wine store, with some hard to find treats. The towns of Falmouth and Helston feature the supermarket giants, but if you prefer to avoid this experience, shop online and get it delivered but be sure to tell the driver that access is tight and they will struggle to turn the van around. They will also need to follow exact directions and not use the postcode.

The harbourside town of Falmouth has a great collection of independent restaurants, as well as Rick Stein's, Fish and Chips, Deli and Champagne and Oyster bar. Here you can buy from an independent butcher and greengrocer. For fresh fish we suggest Seabourne Fish at Islington Wharf, Penryn, for the best catch of the day.

The Lizard Peninsula is just over 30 minutes by car and as the U.K's most southerly point, is bound to be a must see destination.
