Summary

In Cornish, the word ‘Aber’ means ‘mouth of the river’ – and with the unique aspect of the turning of the
tide seen from the living room and bedroom, it’s clear that this holiday apartment is most aptly named.

As the early morning sunlight streams into the quiet garden, sit back and relax while looking out across the
water – and watch as the boats on the harbour sail to-and-fro, and sailors set about a day on the high seas.
Back in 1821, when the beautiful Regency house that the apartment sits within was built for a sea captain of
the Packet Ships, Falmouth was quite a different place. The days of heavy industry in Falmouth have
passed, and now a gentler scene of sailboats and seabirds plays out upon the water.

Quietly positioned, but close enough to the vibrant atmosphere of Falmouth, Aber View is popular with
guests who like to park up and enjoy all the delights of the town on foot. A few minutes’ walk along the
river takes you to Falmouth’s Old High Street, and from there this magical harbourside town reveals itself
in a flourish of independent shops, restaurants and cafés, and inquisitive little passageways that lead you
through to the waterside.

Pick up a picnic from Stones Bakery and head across the water by ferry to the sandy shoreline at Flushing
Beach, or along to one of the waterside meadows that line the route to Mylor Harbour. Here you’ll find
perfect spots to sit back and take in the scenery while you enjoy a delicious and leisurely lunch. Or you can
easily wander to any one of Falmouth’s three sandy beaches for a blissful day of unwinding with nothing
but ice cream, swimming, a great book, and plenty of rock pools for entertainment.

From the road, there are stone steps up to the pavement. There is then a gate and 3 steps into the garden. The entrance to Aber View is along the right hand garden path. Inside the property there is a small, wide flight of stairs into the living room.

If you decide to use the parking at the rear of the property there is no direct access through to the apartment so you will need to walk around to the front (a 3 minute walk from Penwerris Lane through the church grounds).

Aber View is a little piece of heaven on the river, and an ideal base to explore this idyllic corner of Cornwall. From beaches to museums and galleries, a stay in Falmouth offers something for all tastes.

Stroll five minutes along the picturesque waterside and you’ll come to Falmouth’s Old High Street where, as well as Stones Bakery, you’ll find independent antiques and vintage shops, wonderful restaurants, and a host of excellent cafés. Hours can be spent in Falmouth soaking up the unique atmosphere of this town, and a range of events throughout the year ensure the buzz and energy of entertainment is never far away.

The Prince of Wales Pier, situated just at the bottom of the Old High Street, takes you on journeys across the Fal River and beyond. Head over to St Mawes, keeping an eye out for dolphins in the bay as you go, or take a little boat over to Flushing and try and spot Aber View from the other side of the water.

Just a short drive away is the Helford River, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here the water is pristine, and stunning walks criss-cross the landscape. The area is also home to the famous subtropical gardens of Glendurgan and Trebah, where rare ferns and palm trees nestle in valleys leading down to sandy beaches.

Lovely accommodation - extremely clean and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into having it all perfect especially with the Covid 19 The garden overlooking the River Fal was wonderful - my husband has severe asthma so couldn't walk very far but loved sitting in the sunshine in the garden A lovely thought was milk and scones left for our arrival very thoughtful treat
