Amidst the buzz and bustle of Falmouth’s famous Old High Street, a colourful passageway lined with independent shops, café’s and more than a few hidden surprises, you’ll discover Makers Loft.
Find inspiration from local artists and makers in the galleries and gift shops, this street is lined with creativity. You’ll find it right beneath your feet at Inspire Makers downstairs.
Wander around the corner to Old Brewery Yard, a cobbled courtyard filled with colour. Here, a restaurant and laid back bar offer al-fresco tables and live music.
Opposite the flat, an old Cornish ‘opeway’ offers a glimpse of Falmouth Harbour, your taste of what’s to come on the water. Falmouth Harbour is dotted with boats and you’ll find it easy to get out onto the water and explore. From the bottom of the Old High Street ferries can be caught over to St Mawes, of upriver to the Cathedral city of Truro.
For beaches, Falmouth has three. Blue Flag Gyllyngvase, rockpool-laden Castle Beach and Swanpool with white sand and great ice cream. Take your pick from a local favourite or head out to one of the famously rugged expanses of sand on the North Coast – most are within a 45-minute drive.
You’ll be well-fed with a stay here, with plenty of restaurants to explore. Local produce is abundant in this part of Cornwall, so pick up some fresh seafood straight from the boat and cook up a storm.
Award-winning gardens are close by too. Wander through gunnera at Trebah, recently voted one of Britain’s top ten gardens by Vogue magazine.
