Apart from the sea views and charming interior, Porth Gwel will no doubt appeal because you are so close to Falmouth’s great eateries, be it The Wheelhouse for a seafood feast, or Stone’s bakery for some delicious artisan bread and cake.
Falmouth has a good array of gift shops and galleries so you are never far from the perfect holiday momento. There are three beaches, Castle, Gyllyngvase and Swanpool. The latter two have cafes and legendary ice-creams.
In the entertainment stakes you will find two cinemas, one art house and the other main stream, plus the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, the Ships and Castles Leisure centre, Pendennis Castle and many hotels with swimming pools and spas.
If you are arriving in Falmouth by public transportation, then you will be pleased to know that the coach stop is just two minutes walk from Porth Gwel. The nearest train station is Penmere Platform on the Falmouth branch line, which is a twenty minute journey from Truro. We suggest a taxi ride from Penmere Platform to the apartment if you have luggage to carry, otherwise it is a fifteen minute walk.
St Ives is accessible by train, or a 45 minute car drive. The Eden Project is the same distance by car in a north-easterly direction.
If you want to see a bit of wild Cornwall, then be sure to factor in a trip to the Lizard, the UK’s most southerly point and enjoy the rugged cliff lines and golden sands along that stretch of coastline.
