Porth Gwel is a gorgeous, bijou, holiday apartment in the harbour town of Falmouth on the south coast of Cornwall.

This purpose built apartment overlooks the harbour and ‘The Moor’ from its balcony. Internally you will enjoy the carefully thought out furnishings and nautical chic decor. The fusion of calm, serene colours and comfort makes Porth Gwel a fabulous boutique retreat.

Just two minutes walk from the apartment and you will be on The Moor and Falmouth’s Piazza where every Tuesday there is a Farmer’s Market and often other events throughout the year. Take a look at for event notifications.

Falmouth has a fantastic array of independent restaurants and bars all within walking distance, but if you decide to eat in you will find the kitchen well equipped for such purposes.

From the Prince of Wales Pier passenger boats run frequently up the River Fal, to St. Mawes, Flushing and the Helford River.

So if you are a couple, or just one person looking for a Cornish holiday home with comfort and charm then Porth Gwel is the place to be.

Enter the communal entrance hall at street level, the apartment is up twenty-six steps to the second (top) floor.

Living room / Kitchen

Open plan with comfy sofa and 24″ TV. Kitchen area with electric oven and hob, microwave, washing machine/dryer, fridge with freezer ice box and a breakfast bar with two stools.

With stunning views over Falmouth and the harbour. A table and two chairs and a very well positioned mirror to make the most of the view from the kitchen!

King size bed, bedside tables, lamps, clothes hanging space, drawers and hair dryer.

Bath with shower over, wc, basin and heated towel rail.

Free street parking available.

Apart from the sea views and charming interior, Porth Gwel will no doubt appeal because you are so close to Falmouth’s great eateries, be it The Wheelhouse for a seafood feast,  or Stone’s bakery for some delicious artisan bread and cake.

Falmouth has a good array of gift shops and galleries so you are never far from the perfect holiday momento. There are three beaches, Castle, Gyllyngvase and Swanpool. The latter two have cafes and legendary ice-creams.

In the entertainment stakes you will find two cinemas, one art house and the other main stream, plus the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, the Ships and Castles Leisure centre, Pendennis Castle and many hotels with swimming pools and spas.

If you are arriving in Falmouth by public transportation, then you will be pleased to know that the coach stop is just two minutes walk from Porth Gwel. The nearest train station is Penmere Platform on the Falmouth branch line, which is a twenty minute journey from Truro. We suggest a taxi ride from Penmere Platform to the apartment if you have luggage to carry, otherwise it is a fifteen minute walk.

St Ives is accessible by train, or a 45 minute car drive. The Eden Project is the same distance by car in a north-easterly direction.

If you want to see a bit of wild Cornwall, then be sure to factor in a trip to the Lizard, the UK’s most southerly point and enjoy the rugged cliff lines and golden sands along that stretch of coastline.

Porth Gwel is as described. Reasonably well appointed, nicely located for Falmourh town centre providing you can handle the steep hills.
