Summary

Above the clipping masts of Falmouth Marina and within the luxury Art Deco style ‘The Slipway’ building you’ll find Sunset – a holiday home for four people, with water access and within touching distance of the town of Falmouth. Views stretch upriver from the vast balcony, and come the evening, the dazzling display of shifting, deepening colour – and the apartment’s namesake – fills the sky above you.

Within the apartment, a mid-century modern interior sits alongside the works of both local and international artists, creating an inspiring place to unwind after your latest Cornish excursion. A lift from the ground floor creates level access, making the apartment ideal for sea-legged sailors or those with restricted mobility.

Launch a boat or kayaks from the communal slipway and explore the river Fal, or simply relax and watch the gentle movement of the water from the pontoon. Adventure can be found around every corner in Cornwall, with boat hire, ferries, and the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, to name just a few of the many varied options on hand to keep you and your crew entertained.

Those who prefer the land to the sea will love the stroll along the waterside into Falmouth, with views of the bustling harbour as you make your way towards town. Perch on the quayside at The Greenbank Hotel as you go, or pop into one of the many waterside pubs en-route. You’ll reach Falmouth’s beautiful Old High Street, with its many unique shops, cafés, and the legendary Stones Bakery, in about fifteen minutes.

Well located on the edge of town, trips by car into the wider wonders of Cornwall are a breeze. When the day winds up and the sun sinks low on the horizon, sip a glass of wine with dinner outside on the balcony. Maybe compare notes about the day and those yet to come, or simply sit quietly enjoying the view until the draw of a luxuriously comfortable bed becomes too hard to resist.

Sunset gives you the best of both worlds. You’re within walking distance of Falmouth’s wonderful high street and its independent shops and restaurants, and in one of the few spots in town offering that glorious sunset view.

Falmouth has three lovely beaches, and Gyllyngvase, with its award-winning café and restaurant, is the closest. The sandy shores of Swanpool and Maenporth are both nearby, and many secluded coves and pebbly beaches line the nearby Helford River – perfect for wild swimming or unwinding with a good book.

From the apartment, stroll along the waterfront to town, where you can pick up some delicious bread from Stones Bakery, or visit Rick Steins for some must-have fish and chips. Falmouth’s Old High Street offers something to delight everyone, from coffee shops to fashion boutiques – and even a yacht chandlery. A number of award-winning restaurants line the streets and narrow ‘opeways’ of the town, from acclaimed harbour side seafood to hearty traditional pub food, and just about everything in-between.

From the Prince of Wales Pier, hop on a ferry to see St Mawes on the other side of the river, or you can join one of the many sightseeing boat trips to see dolphins or seals from the water.

Tucked away on the edge of town, it’s easy to get out of Falmouth to explore the wider wilds of Cornwall. Follow the road to the North Coast and explore incredible, dramatic scenery and famous beaches like Bedruthan steps. Or visit the Lizard Peninsula for the most southerly point of the UK and the beautiful Kynance Cove. National Trust country houses are plentiful and all just a short drive away, while Eden Project or The Lost Gardens of Heligan can be reached within an hour.

Visit the new award-winning Tate St Ives, or see a show at the open-air Minack Theatre, set into the cliffs at Porthcurno, near Lands End. Closer to home, the Poly in Falmouth always has many varied and captivating events and films, plus plenty of inspiring exhibitions to sate your artistic side.
