The Arts in Cornwall

Beloved by artists for light and art-lovers for galleries, Cornwall's reputation as a hub for the arts is well-deserved.

Throw pots and listen to live jazz at The Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society. A truly vibrant calendar of events and workshops here includes cinema, theatre, comedy and much more. A visit to Falmouth Art Gallery is a must for artwork and events celebrating Falmouth's creative heritage.

On the river Helford near Frenchman's Creek you'll find Kestle Barton, a uniquely enchanting centre for rural arts. Site specific artworks and performances drawing inspiration for the landscape happen on a regular basis.

We recommend CAST in Helston for an inspiring lunch, along with their series of events including artist talks, film screenings and poetry readings.

Catch a play at the Minack theatre, carved into the clifftop at Porthcurno, or be entertained among Jurassic ferns in the amphitheatre at Trebah Garden. These two venues are unrivalled and Trebah just so happens to be on our doorstep just outside Mawnan Smith.

The Tate St Ives & Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden demonstrate the unique positioning of St Ives within the cultural landscape and permanent and visiting exhibitions bring art of international acclaim to Cornwall.

Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens contain a beautiful array of plants and a space for exhibitions and events. Sculptures include works from artists such as James Tyrell and Richard Woods.

In Penzance you'll find the Exchange gallery showcasing contemporary art. Close by is the famous Newlyn School of Art which runs short courses for creatives and the Newlyn Art Gallery, with artworks and cafe with sublime views out to sea.
