 Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some simple answers to some frequently asked questions about booking a holiday cottage with us.

Do I have to pay a Deposit for my holiday?

If you are booking more than four weeks in advance of your holiday then we require a 30% deposit to secure the booking. If your holiday is due to start in under twenty-eight days then the full rental amount is payable on booking.

What are the Booking Conditions?

Please see the terms and conditions at the foot of this page.

What is the Security Deposit?

When a guest books with us for the first time we request that you authenticate your payment card to the value of £200. Similar to a credit card ‘swipe’ at a hotel this allows us to hold this information as security against any (unlikely) damage in your holiday home. Please rest assured that no monies will be debited from your card without consultation with you. In the unlikely event we need to charge you for damages then this will be discussed with you and documented in writing. We will contact you within two weeks of departure if we discover any unreported breakages or damages. You will be asked to authenticate your card by email two weeks before your arrival. If you have stayed with us before, even in a different property, there is no need to pay a security deposit and please ignore the email. Please see your Booking Terms and Conditions for more details.

Can I book a Short Break?

The majority of holiday cottages within our portfolio are open for short breaks from October to Easter. The short break tariff is generally calculated as below:

4 nights or less: 70% of weekly tariff
5 nights: 80% of weekly tariff
6 nights: 90% of weekly tariff

We reserve the right to consult the property owner before accepting a short break booking.

What is a reduced occupancy discount?

We offer reduced rates for couples or smaller groups at some of our properties, at certain times of year. This special rate is based on reduced occupancy and a maximum number of bedrooms being used. Please note for a couple this covers the use of only one bedroom (please advise which bedroom you would like to use).

Do I need to bring my own bed linen and / or towels?

All of our properties provide bed linen and some also provide towels. Tea towels are always provided, but normally only two per cottage, so if you know you will use more please bring them with you. We do have a small number of hire towels (£5 per person) for visitors travelling from abroad or via public transport. However their availability is not guaranteed. Please reserve at the time of your booking to ensure availability.

What time can I arrive and what time must I depart?

Please check the notes section of the individual property page, as some cottages do defer slightly from the (new) standard 5pm arrival and 9am departure.

Do I need to bring anything?

Yes, please do not forget your arrival instructions and please read them at least a day before you set off on your holiday, as you may need to call the owner to advise of your arrival time. If you are staying at a Falmouth property please also bring your booking confirmation letter as you may require it for identification purposes.

How do I get the keys for the property?

When we confirm the details of your booking, we will advise you of how to collect the keys and where they are located.

If I need to cancel my holiday, what will happen?

Once you have paid the deposit for your holiday you are liable for the balance also. We therefore strongly advise that you take out holiday cancellation insurance that could cover you in the event of you having to cancel. If you have to cancel a booking we will do our utmost to re-let the property and should we be successful, your rental payment(s) will be refunded less a £50 administration fee.

Do you provide insurance?

No. There are many comprehensive insurance providers online, offering reasonable holiday insurance, as well as cancellation cover.

What are your Opening Hours?

Our opening hours are Monday – Saturday 9.00am – 5.00pm. In an emergency please call Emily’s mobile: 07812 007153
