Summary

Nestled above Cornish rooftops at the top of Falmouth’s historic Old High Street, The Brig gazes out over the blue waters of Falmouth’s harbour. As the gentle notes of a life on the ocean rise up to your window, it’s clear there are few better places for a couple to stay in Cornwall.

Follow your nose, if you head out first thing, and let the smell of freshly baked bread floating on the salty sea air lead you just a few doors down to the incredible Stones Bakery, where artisan bread and sweet treats are freshly prepared on-site each morning. Grab something to-go, then dangle your legs over the water at the Prince of Wales Pier, before hopping on a ferry for an excursion on the water. Whether you decide to stay in and make the most of the large patio with sweeping views across Falmouth Harbour, or take a wander around the independent shops, restaurants and cafés right on your doorstep, here at The Brig, romance is the order of the day.

Its open-plan space has been luxuriously designed with interiors sure to summon a smile. From handcrafted lighting by Tom Raffield to the specification of the kitchen, the standards to which the property was renovated by its stylish owner are clear to see. The bedroom and living space are separated by a bespoke, slatted wall panel, providing continuity to the space, and a little privacy.

Watch summer sunrises unfold from the balcony, or snuggle up on the sofa as a dramatic storm rolls in. Whatever you choose to do, indoors and out, memories of your time here at The Brig will stay with you forever.

Named after the tall-masted boats that once occupied the sweeping views from the apartment, The Brig, in Packet Quays, is superbly positioned to enjoy a waterside holiday from in Falmouth.

With the sea close by and the famous waters of the River Fal and Carrick Roads right outside your window, venture with your loved one into Cornwall and discover why this place is so special. The Old High Street, where The Brig sits, is home to some of Falmouth’s best-loved spots. From the ever-popular Stones Bakery to the lovely independent shops and restaurants that line the way down to town. At the foot of The Old High Street is the Prince of Wales Pier, where throughout the day you can set sail on ferries that journey up the River Fal towards Truro, or across to the harbour village of Flushing, or to St Mawes and the Roseland
Peninsula.

Three beaches are just a short walk from the apartment, offering opportunities for sunbathing, wild swimming, or even something more adventurous like Standup Paddleboarding.

The Blue-flag Gyllyngvase is the most popular beach in town and it benefits from RNLI lifeguards during the summer and a brilliant café and restaurant. Castle Beach and Swanpool Beach sit either side of Gyllyngvase. For seclusion, head over to the Helford River, where secret coves and quiet beaches managed by the National Trust nestle within verdant, treelined river banks.

Bustling with life, the creative town of Falmouth has been home to an arts school for over a hundred years, so culture abounds here. From The Poly, a unique arts centre with film screenings and exhibitions, to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, and plenty of other independent galleries in between, your appetite for the artistic will certainly be satisfied. The Tudor Castles of Pendennis and St Mawes are operated by English Heritage, giving budding historians plenty to explore and devour.

The number of award-winning restaurants, all within easy reach, make The Brig a great choice for foodies. You can try a different top-quality spot every day. One of our favourites, though, and the closest to you, The Star and Garter, is the perfect setting for a romantic meal.

By car you can reach most of the best of Cornwall within an hour’s drive. Visit the picturesque Porthcurno, for its famous golden sands and translucent waters, or head over to Eden Project, where rare botanicals sit inside iconic biomes and pop-stars sing among the ferns in summer at the Eden Sessions.
