Summer is on its way

May 25, 2018 No Comments

We’ve been making the most of the fabulous weather to give our property photography a refresh. Our holiday home owners have been investing and upgrading their holiday homes and we are excited about sharing these changes with you.

Here are a few of our favourites…

One of our most striking properties Ridifarne at Helford Passage has always been a popular choice with guests, you can see why with views like this from the patio…

Strawberries and cream in the sun at The Foreshore anyone? Pure luxury…

If you’re looking for water access within walking distance to an award winning pub, look no further than Weir Point Stables which is just up the creek from The Pandora Inn; paddle, walk or swim to dinner (if you’re brave).

We often get asked for holiday cottages ‘on the beach’ and the Rose Cottages at Durgan are just a hop skip and a jump from the water!

The garden at Treviades Melyn looking lovely in the spring sun, the perfect spot for a group getaway.

Sweet dreams are made of this

March 24, 2018 No Comments

A good night’s sleep is so important. The healing effects of sleep are just like a holiday in Cornwall – it reduces stress, makes you more alert, bolsters your memory and helps your body to repair.  At Cornish Holiday Cottages we work hard to make sure all our beds (over three hundred of them) are cosy and comfortable to make sure you achieve the best rest and relaxation during your break.

As March is ‘National Bed Month’ we wanted to share a selection of some of our most unique bedrooms and comfiest beds from our portfolio.

Sunrise, Falmouth Bay

Time and time again our guests tell us about the sumptuous super king bed and luxurious linen at this dreamy holiday apartment just behind Gylly Beach. The view of the sun rising above the beach opposite is spectacular. The only question is, will you be able to leave the cosy comfort of your bed to view the sun rise for yourself? Just five more minutes…

Upper Deck, Port Navas

Upper Deck, a boutique waterside apartment in Port Navas, was completely renovated last year and it is the perfect base for anyone looking to escape the hustle the bustle. The master bedroom has a king-size bed with stunning uninterrupted views of the creek. Plan a holiday here for lazy mornings, with a good book and watch the world float by your window.

Fisher’s Hut, Falmouth

If you like a holiday with a sense of adventure, then Fisher’s Hut is perfect for you. Based on the style of a Shepherd’s Hut the compact and bijou space has a bespoke double bed plus a second narrow single. Currently, there is no television at Fisher’s Hut, so, why not go one step further, switch off phones and go completely off-grid. Imagine nights by the firepit, marvelling in the star show above and waking to sound of bird song.

The Boat House, Port Navas

Perfect for a romantic break for two, The Boat House is in an idyllic waterside location on the creek side of Port Navas. The mezzanine sleeping area has a king size bed and wonderful views through the trees. The wood burner in the sitting room means this wonderful retreat is comfortable and cosy all year round.

Carrick Treath, Feock

Carrick Treath is a beautiful and unique holiday home enjoying fabulous uninterrupted views of the water of the Carrick Roads even from the bedroom. Just meters from the beach the whole house is finished to a high standard and the bedrooms are no exception.

Treviades Melyn

If you love the great outdoors, then Treviades Melyn is the perfect base for you.  The large, south-facing, landscaped gardens are a wonderful space for the family and can be enjoyed from the master bedroom. High vaulted ceilings, wooden floors and a Juliet balcony make it the perfect space to rest and relax while enjoying elevated views over the rolling countryside.

Kitchens where meals and memories are made

October 3, 2017 No Comments

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home and we couldn’t agree more.

It’s always exciting to experience local restaurants on holiday and Cornwall has its fair share of the best, from country pubs with roaring fires, fine dining and stunning beach front cafes.

Yet, there is still something very special about the whole family preparing, cooking and enjoying a delicious home cooked meal together and it seems so much more fun to cook on holiday.

If you’re planning a large group-getaway or a romantic couples retreat, here’s a selection of our holiday homes with kitchens that make cooking a special occasion.

When you’ve found your perfect holiday home we recommend talking to The Cornish Food Box Company. They have hundreds of Cornish products including fruit and veg, fish, meat and dairy which they will pack and deliver direct to your door.

Eat. Drink. Enjoy!

Room of the Week – Ridifarne Kitchen

February 1, 2017 No Comments

Rather than featuring a property a week as you can see them on the website, we thought it would be nice to share some of our favourite rooms with you! This way we can show extra photographs that may not already be on the website.

Ridifarne.Helford River.Cornwall (2 of 10)

It seems fitting to start with a property that we have been letting for over 30 years, the very popular Ridifarne. If private access to the beach and stunning views of the Helford River are not enough for you perhaps the 3-acre garden will be of interest. Today we will look at the recently refurbished kitchen and larder.

Although there is a large formal dining room next door the owners choose to keep a breakfast table in the window giving you a choice of where to watch the view while you eat your cream tea. The new electric Aga keeps the room warm and makes you slow down a bit while you’re on holiday. Although you don’t have to plan quite as far in advance as with a traditional Aga this will take 30 minutes to get up to temperature, we only ever get good feedback from guests cooking with it.

Ridifarne.Helford River.Cornwall (7 of 10)

The separate utility/larder stores the fridge freezer and washing machines, keeping the kitchen nice and peaceful.

Ridifarne.Helford River.Cornwall (3 of 10)

The mases of kitchen worktop make for the perfect location for a bit of holiday baking! If you fancy a break from cooking then a short walk along the beach takes you to the popular Ferryboat Inn, or hop across the river on the ferry (or kayaks if you bring them) and have a meal at The Shipwrights on the south side of the river.
