Summary

Headlands gazes out over Falmouth Bay and its famously blue waters. This spacious holiday home enjoys easy access to Cornwall’s southern coastline and Falmouth’s three beaches.

Nestled into the side of Pendennis Point beside the Coastguards cottages, Headlands was crafted to enjoy a prime lookout position. Marvel at the ever-changing view, as clouds shift in formation over the sea and sky, or the sun dips below the land to allow hazy hues of pink and gold to envelop the horizon.

Close to town, and with beaches on your doorstep, everything that makes a visit to Falmouth so special is within easy reach. A living room on the upper floor takes full advantage of the sea view, and with three spacious bedrooms and a garden you’ll have a very comfortable base from which to explore Cornwall.

Headlands becomes your own personal beach house as you swim in the sea at sunrise, or watch from the promenade as the locals brave the water all year round. Amble down to the golden sands and rock pools of Castle Beach and see why the clear waters of Falmouth Bay are such a haven for wildlife, with dolphins, and even the odd sighting of a leatherback turtle, in summer.

As night falls and the moon casts a glow over the water, you’ll not need to choose between staying up gazing at the sea or the urge to sink into bed, because your master bedroom provides great views out over the bay from your bed anyway. Perfect.

The historic harbour town of Falmouth is still a bustling port, so from Headlands you’ll see all manner of watercraft crossing the horizon, from tall ships to superyachts. And you can learn how it all came into being at the Tudor Pendennis Castle, just around the corner. After a short stroll down to the seafront you’ll arrive at Castle Beach, with its convenient café and playful rock pools.

An elevated promenade links Headlands to Gyllyngvase Beach, a sandy Blue Flag beach with clear swimming waters and a lively, glass-fronted café/restaurant. Explore the area by water, with paddleboard hire, tuition and guided tours from WeSup. Nearby, Ships and Castles, a fun indoor swimming pool on Pendennis Point, will be a huge hit with the children. We suggest, however, that the adults among you take a good book – and some headphones!

You can venture further with ease by taking a boat trip from Falmouth to St Mawes, or Truro, or along the Helford River. Or if you’d like to captain your own vessel, boats can be rented from Custom House Quay.

You’ll find plenty of restaurants and cafés and independent shops to indulge in throughout the lively streets of Falmouth – our favourites include a window seat at Star & Garter, a coffee at Espressini, and a browse for gifts in Willow & Stone.

Again, another fabulous holiday at Headlands. They have replaced the sofas in the sitting room and they are so much more comfy than the previous ones. My Aunt and Uncle joined us this time and they love the place as much as we do.
